I could not decide on which one to post so I posted two!!
"Like all major religions of the world, Christianity is more than a set of devotional practices and a moral code: it is also a way of thinking about God, about human beings, about the world and history. For Christians, thinking is part of believing. "
Robert Louis Wilken
The Spirit of Early Christian Thought
Which led to this next quote:
"No one believes anything unless one first thought it believable....Everything that is believed is believed after being preceded by thought....Not everyone who thinks believes, since many think in order not to believe; but everyone who believes thinks, thinks in believing and believes in thinking."
Predestination of the Saints
I am not exactly sure how I feel about the first quote --for some reason it just does not sit right with me; I think it is his use of the phrase "like all major religions of the world". I might be a little gun shy of post modern thought and how it seeps in where we least suspect. Anyway if you have a thought on the first quote let me know what you think, if you think I am loco let me know that too!
